About Me

"Adversity introduces a man to himself." - Albert Einstein

My name is Joseph Cotter. I am a 53 year old male residing in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I am the primary caretaker for my 89 year old mother, as well as my 63 year old permanently disabled brother. Our family has experienced grief, anguish, and financial loss since I met Independence Blue Cross.
I am an IT professional, 30+ years. No criminal record. I maintain security status with the federal government, to access and maintain computer servers belonging to the IRS. I have not had safe, affordable access to healthcare in seven years.
After the incident occurred, I reached out to the management of Independence Blue Cross to insist on an explanation. The customer service department is unable to address any issue of this scale, as well as my fear that they are the original source of the issue. I've learned overtime that the public phone number and the customer service staff are shields between the public and the executives.
A simple search determined that Gregory Deavens was the Chief Officer of the company, responsible for its operation and performance. I reached out to him specifically with my complaint on the Linkedin platform. I don't expect the top executive of a company with 10,000 employees to address my specific complaint, however, I had a full expectation that he would delegate it appropriately. Gregory Deavens delegated my complaint to Dr. Richard Snyder, the executive vice president of Facilitated Health Networks of Independence Blue Cross.

That's when a bad thing got worse.

Dr. Snyder was unwilling in entertaining the complaint, and proceeded in circular run around conversation of nothingness on the LinkedIn platform. After five years of complaints, Dr Snyder had the following letter authored. The letter is very misleading and the one instance they can cite of an office visit and diabetes treatment. Was a routine office visit that the doctor prescribed diabetic medicines without my knowledge or permission. That's why I need an investigative reporter, to help me sort through everything and we can prove that Independence Blue Cross is playing a very dangerous game. The correspondence also fails to indicate what happened in 2017 or how anything being accessed moving forward can be done without risk.

My bloody pillows

These are my bed pillows, not a crime scene. I bleed profusely every night. I'm never really completely sure where all this blood is coming from, but two main suspects: my nose, and open wounds on my now paper thin skin. In the past, I used to buy new pillows regularly, but they only get covered in blood again within a short period of time. Just another one of the out of pocket expenses I have because I have Blue Cross insurance. I would love to be able to discuss this matter with a medical professional without having to go to court afterwards.
Over the past seven years, I've missed out on so much. Continuous Glucose Monitors are commonplace. When I applied to get a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), it requires an insurance check. Concentrated oxygen machine? Insurance check. And that's after they already told me I have Independence Blue Cross insurance when I filled out the initial forms. These companies have a way of verifying your insurance carrier if you give them the required name, Social Security, and date of birth information. A practice I hoped will be made illegal because that is preventing me from accessing those devices.

Maintaining my two disabled family members, working full time, maintaining the home, and managing diabetes and heart disease without an office visit in five years can sometimes be rather difficult. So this website is still missing at least as much content as is already on here. Please be patient and check back often. I am still working on formatting and posting things like the Linkedin conversation with Dr Richard Snyder years ago, correspondence with the office of Bob Casey, who told me, unfortunately, nothing can be done since Independence Blue Cross is a private company (are private health insurance companies unregulatable?). And the downright strange reaction I got when I contacted the current Pennsylvania Attorney general in regards to this matter.
Wait until you see the photographs of my teeth. Viewer discretion advised. I've paid for separate prudential health insurance for the past seven years, I think I went there once in the beginning, before all the chaos broke out. As a diabetic, unvaccinated, with unknown A1C, and routine active chest pains, dental work is simply out of the question. Now my teeth are in a mode where every meal ends in a bit of tooth. And the remaining sections of the teeth are razor sharp because of the way the split occurs. Great joy in having razor sharp teeth mounted in my mouth that are constantly ripping apart the side of my mouth and my tongue. Two of my active fixes are to use sugar free bubble gum to cover the sharp parts and / or always keep some Anbesol for tooth pain in your mouth. (Interesting factoid: If you attempt to brush your teeth with Anbesol, the medicine will chemically melt the bristles of your toothbrush).
Thank you in advance for your patience. And please come back often, this page, and, this website will be growing exponentially in the days to come.
